Well, I have finally made it into the digital world, so I guess it is only right to say something about myself and why am I writing now.

I am 63 years of age and have spent most of my life engaged in some form of activism for social justice, from the Anti-Nazi League, CND and Gay Rights campaigns of my youth to the campaign for urgent action to protect our climate, I always been driven to challenge social injustice and so am writing, not simply for my own amusement, but in an attempt to create a dialogue around that which informs, educates, tantalises, frustrates and entertains me.

I am also keen to share my lived experience as someone late diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. I have always lacked confidence in my writing, at school I struggled to gain the confidence I found in numbers and the reassuring sense of order that mathematics brought to my world.  I still wrote though, driven by a desire to learn through collaboration, but always troubled by the feeling that I didn’t write properly.

Then I read Caroline Ross, who is on Substack as Uncivil Savant and these words resonated.

“Writing is not only for writers, language is for us all, the makers, the movers, the quiet ones and the prophets. When language works at its best it embraces the real, has its feet on the ground and is not full of tricks.”

Fast forward through years of study, many reports, essays and even collaborating on a book, published in 2024.  I have an acceptance that this is how I write, these are my rules and I’d rather be here than carrying the regret of not having a voice in the digital age.

Some of my writing will inevitably, be about my work in social and environmental impact, as director of Joseph Victor Limited a a team of visionary consultants who work to redefine what value means.

There will undoubtedly be rushing sections, where random thoughts spill from my brain and hopefully find some intelligible form on the pages of this blog. Whatever the stories we may share, I will write truthfully of life through my own unique lens.

I am hoping that this blog will extend the many conversations I have with people who share my belief and recognise the urgent need for a more equitable society with a more refined value system, in order that we and our planet can flourish into the future.

I am keen to connect with anyone who shares this passion and organisations who want to explore ways to accurately value both their reputation and the social and environmental capital they create.
